Salesforce needed an independent ESG process to measure the efficacy of a mentoring programme, in order to meet DEI objectives for future workforce development.

  • Salesforce donated €300,000 to Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) to support a pilot programme to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in the Information and Communications and Technology sector in Ireland.

  • The evaluation of the Saer mentoring programme used a Programme Logic Model. Accordingly, the required data for the primary research was collated via interviews and questionnaires for mentors, online surveys for mentees and analysis of the extensive Saer programme documentation.

Based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of datasets from the mentoring programme and e-learning modules, we undertook an impact evaluation of the programme to ensure it was fit-for-purpose and met the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion (DEI) objectives of Salesforce funding.

The evaluation included further comparative analyses of social, demographic and deprivation indices to ensure better representation of mentees from across ICT & Computer Science related graduate internships including more female participation in a male dominated industry.

  • The efficacy of the Saer mentoring programme was proven to have been successful in enabling it to achieve its overarching objectives. The targets set by the agreement between Salesforce and TU Dublin:

    - 50% of the cohort of mentees to be from Computer Science

    - 50% to be female

-30% to be receiving educational grants and come from DEIS schools

    - 20% to be students with disabilities or enrolled under the HEAR/DARE schemes

The agreement set diversity and demographic targets for the sub-set of mentees from the Computer Science only stream, whereby the number of mentees receiving educational grants exceeded the set target of 30%.

The Health Service Executive needed an independent ESG process to verify the sustainability of a funded digital mental health service, so they turned to us to deliver it.

  • The purpose of the ESG evaluation was to undertake a review of the Health Service Executive (HSE) funded Turn2me online mental health service.

A robust environmental & social impact assessment and governance review of the organisation was required in order to make strategic policy & fund recommendations for its future direction and sustainability.

  • Based upon assessment of outcomes from both secondary data and primary research, informed by an evidence base, an evaluation of clinical outcomes and impacts of the service model were reviewed.

In addition, an review of current organisational structure & governance arrangements to ensure they remain fit-for-purpose, was conducted by Cruinn.

  • A series of strategic recommendations steered by findings and based on robust assessment and rigorous analysis of all available datasets (secondary and primary) to inform future direction of the service and sustainability.

The Turn2Me Service Model & Organisational Governance Review final report for period 2019-2022 was finalised in January 2023.

Shell measures its ESG performance to report on safety of its operations, impact on environment & contribution to communities, seeking Cruinn to support investments in Ireland.

  • Shell’s need to measure and evaluate its €7m Community Investment in Ireland, meant working with Social Investment & Performance team to provide GRI reporting of programme investments.

The company needed to protect its assets, investors & stakeholders to provide returns but also manage its reputation as a good neighbour to work with in local communities.

  • A socio-economic evaluation of the wider community impacts through Shell and its social investor partners for the benefit of local communities across the Erris region of Co. Mayo, was rigorously assessed by Cruinn.

The initial €7m investment provided a positive return across investing in programmes including sports, social, recreational & educational projects in local communities across the region, over a 5-year period.

  • Our work informed the future Social Investment strategy for Shell in Ireland, aligned to Royal Dutch Shell Group ESG Sustainability Reporting & GRI Performance Framework.

In addition, Cruinn conducted a benchmark analysis of Shell’s social investment strategy against the top 25 corporate social responsibility companies operating in Ireland.

Citizens Information Board wanted to test sustainability of services in Ireland to enable deaf persons to access public services in real-time ISL via video app from France.

  • Citizens Information Board (CIB) received funding for an ISL (Irish Sign Language) app and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform via Ireland’s Public Service Innovation Fund – a competitive fund that aimed to support innovative ideas from across public service organisations.

  • A pilot project which ran for 8months focused on outcomes and impact for the Deaf/ISL community in Ireland. The findings considered scalability, transferability and learning with public services and private service providers in collaboration with the Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS).

The service needed to be both scalable and sustainable, in line with the requirements of the ISL Act (2017) to meet public service provision and access to ISL video interpreting services for deaf users.

  • IVèS were selected as the technical provider due to their Djanah app and CRM platform having been used for remote sign language interpreting for deaf users in other countries including France, Belgium and Canada.

The on-demand nature of the service provided through the app & platform means the immediacy of accessing interpreters has been a ‘game-changer’ for the Deaf community in Ireland.
